Today, I decided to do something I’ve been putting off all summer. I finally hooked up my Seagate 300GB SATA II Hard Drive (Sorry, I had to get technical). While unplugging everything and plugging the cord back in, my brain started doing something weird; I started acting like I was actually giving my computer LIFE.
If you actual think about, my computer is my baby, my project, my Frankenstein. Here’s what actually happened while I was hooking the cords back up to my monster, for the third time.
- Plug in the memory cards (2 x 512mb) - These are for the memory. One for the short term memory, and one for the longer term. Note: I didn’t say permanent.
- Plug in the hard drives (300GB SATA II, 250GB SATA, 80GB, and 40GB IDE = 670GB Total) - These are the actual permanent memory. What ever I teach it and want it to remember, it puts here. It’s the memories through-out the years we had together. It’s the good times, the bad times, the weird times where I tell it to download that album I regret I have now.
- Plug in my fans (8 total, different sizes) - These are the pores. These allow my beast to breath; it allows it to run cool on summer days.
- Close the case (It’s nothing too fancy, it has a simple window) - This is the skin for my creation. This gives it personality. It’s what people look at when they see it first.
- Plug in the speakers (500Watt 6 Channel 5.1 Surround Sound) - This allows it to speak. My creation can tell me when I’m wrong, when I’m being too mean, and when it gives up and starts to crash (Basically never.).
- Plug in the keyboard and mouse (Generic keyboard and Optical Mouse) - This is what sets my creation apart from others. I can control my creature for as long as I want. I can put it down when it’s going crazy. I can make it cry!
- Plug in my left monitor (19″ Rosewill LCD Monitor) - It’s the left eye. However, unlike most eyes, it cannot see me, but I can see it.
- Plug in my right montor (17″ X2Gen LCD Monitor) - You guessed it; right eye.
- Finally, plug in the power (Actually, plug in the power for everything into a surge protector) - IT LIVES!!! *Cue crappy old movie lighting and thunder sound clip*
Oh, I know what you’re thinking; Geeky, eh? Well, it is! But that’s my weird brain for ya. I bet you have your quirks too!
Yeah…you -are- a pretty damn big geek. But, honey…that’s why I adore you. Goat the Geek. Mwuahahaha.
Plus, I may need those geeks skills when I set up my new computer once we’re back at school. Hardy har harr.
That’s a lovely beast you got there, you didn’t say what graphic cards you linked up? or what processor Athlon 64? An animal like that has got to have two brains in one right:) Have fun, Mo.
